A morning at the GARCA Scholarship Golf Tournament

I spent the morning at the Georgia Roofing Contractors Association's 2026 Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. A big turnout, a long list of sponsors, and a good look at how Georgia's roofing industry shows up for each other.

On October 1, 2026 I spent the morning at the Georgia Roofing Contractors Association’s 2026 Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. GARCA is the trade group for roofing contractors in Georgia, and roofers are a big part of who I work with, so this one was on my calendar.

A long line of golf carts outside a clubhouse on a foggy morning, with golfers gathering before the start.

A big turnout

The fog was still sitting on the course when the morning got going, and the carts were lined up all the way to the clubhouse. Contractors, suppliers and their teams came out in groups, a lot of them clearly people who have known each other for years. It felt less like a business event and more like an industry getting together.

The sponsor board says a lot

What stood out to me most was the sponsor board. Dozens of companies put their name behind a scholarship tournament: manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service companies and roofing contractors. That’s the whole roofing world in Georgia on one sign, backing the same cause.

It’s a good reminder of how this industry works. It runs on relationships people build over years, and events like this are where a lot of that happens.

Why I go to events like this

I’m based in Marietta and I build phone answering and follow-up systems for service businesses, including roofers. Showing up where the trades gather, like this and the IEC training center opening in September, is how I get to know the industry and the people in it.

Thanks to GARCA and every sponsor who made the day happen.
